While I 100% concur re baristas, I believe this note also applies to many "service" jobs where workers have to interact with real people on an even level. Everyday life skills >>> c-suite skills
it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

While highly applicable to political science, I think this is a basic Dada Strain tenet, boiling down to "build, write and speak the world you want to see into being" - start with intentions inspired by genuine beliefs, then argue, back and prove your point with actions.
I really am just working from the basic premise of political science that public opinion isn’t just measurable — you can and should CREATE it.
This never stops being true, but I’m not sure Ds have ever, at least in my lifetime, learned to apply it for good. *Creating* public opinion either never occurs to them, or if it does, offends their sensibilities? It’s exasperating
