Dad to 6, but only 3 are human. Hoping it's nicer here than an alternative platform. Unashamedly woke and trans ally. Occasional musician. Often grumpy. Love history.

To mark the 1st day of my 4th year without Alice I have an announcement:
I’ve joined up with a determined group of women working to change the narrative around trans people. Women standing in solidarity with our trans siblings.

Our first step is to ask cis women to read and sign our open letter ⬇️
Not in our name: Women in support of the trans+ community
Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?

Recent events bring to mind lyrics by The Boss:

Poor men want to rich
Rich men want to be kings
A king is never satisfied until he rules everything

This. Just this. Love it.
My six favourite European Mr Men character names...

6. Mr Muddle in Spain = Don Confuso
5. Mr Topsy-Turvy in Germany = Herr Kuddelmuddel
4. Mr Bounce in France = Monsieur Bing
3. Mr Dizzy in Portugal = Senhor Bobo
2. Mr Greedy in Sweden = Gubben Glufs Glufs
1. Mr Bump in Norway = Herr Dumpidump

So this article got me thinking. Surely there should be patron saints for a county? And as Yorkshire is the best county, we'll go first 🤪

St Alkeda. Apparently an Anglo Saxon princess that may never have existed.
This is a great article - here's to more Patron Saints (and bank holidays, obvs)
Did you know England’s original patron saint was St. Edmund, not St. George? Kate Viscardi explains how his story is woven into East Anglian history. We should re-adopt him and bring a much-needed November holiday!

Revive St. Edmund’s Day: a new holiday for England’s original patron saint?
What if England had two patron saints? Celebrating St. Edmund could bring a much-needed holiday in November
