"To ride a bicycle is one thing. To learn to ride a bicycle is another. Did you ever see a man learning to ride? I saw one, and I laughed so much that I was too weak to eat dinner that evening."

Nellie Bly, the pioneering American journalist, wrote about learning to ride a bicycle in 1889.

Is it really a decade and a half since betting was last presented as the bogeyman of cycling? Time flies!

This story opened Cav's first chamois memoir and not a single cycling hack even noticed it. In any other sport a really good scandal would have been woven from this admission.

With some hacks getting tired of telling us how much Pogačar is ruining cycling + trying to resurrect the hobgoblin of sports betting (it's become a story in American sports lately) + trying to tell us again betting is ruining cycling, a more intelligent + less hyperbolic take on sports betting:
Is Gambling Really Threatening the Integrity of Sports?
After a recent N.B.A. scandal, more writers and pundits have come out against legalized betting. But the case that they’re making is weaker than it appears.

Renault - sponsors of a cycling team and an F1 team - took cycling into the F1 era more then 40 years ago, testing bikes in the company's wind tunnel.

Cycling hacks can't remember nothing.

Pozzato showing as much knowledge of race organisers' financing model as the average cycling fan.

Why are people struggling to understand that ASO, RCS, Flanders Classics, World Championship organisers and other race organisers all do this already and have been doing it for a long time now?

"We considered offering you an opt-out from us taking your content and presenting in on our platform and then we thought ... fuck you, loser!"
We considered creating an "opt-out" from Pinksky, but it would go against ATProto's core nature. Some people enjoy seeing photos, others videos or text. Fragmenting it would be like returning to the “silos” that traditional social media have built. It’s a very tough discussion.

If you've totally been turned off Netflix's The Diplomat by the sight of Rory Kinnear's flabby white arse pounding away, you could slow things down with its BBC version, The Ambassador in which (the now late) Pauline Collins plays the British ambassador to Ireland. It's on streaming + Youtube.
