I agree that Vauquelin is the favorite, but I’d like to highlight one rider who hasn’t been mentioned much elsewhere: Thibaud Gruel. He’s a very talented young rider (20 years old), fast, and handles climbs relatively well. Last year, he finished 8th in Plouay.

#TourDownUnder Regarding Stage 4, I didn’t understand Jayco’s tactics. On the climb, Harper or Plapp could have at least tried to bridge up to Schmid

#TourDownUnder There’s not much new to say at this point. For me, Onley and Plapp have looked the strongest on the climbs, along with Rochas

Just like the day before yesterday, these weren’t bad picks either. Askey and Bystrom were active, Walls and Marit indeed didn’t survive the climb, and Sheffield also made an attempt
#TourDownUnder stage 4

Once again, I won’t mention the names others already bring up, so:

So ahhh, I thought I mentioned last night that he could be up there because he was active on Stage 2, but I just realized he accidentally got lost due to the character limit. I had him shortlisted, and he’s even on the image from the ChatGPT translation. Sorry, everyone!

First big winner of the season, 151!

But I apologize to everyone, I'll explain why in a moment.

#TourDownUnder A few names you’re less likely to see in other previews but could surprise on Stage 3, with higher odds:

Rochas (401): Stayed near the front on the climb during Stage 2, moved well, and has the Tour Down Under as one of his goals.

For GC win:

Plapp (15u – 7,6x)
Fisher-Black (10,5u – 10x)
Gloag (4u - 70x)
Strong (1,5u – 80x)
Nerurkar (1u – 100x)
Izagirre (0,5u – 500x)
Rochas (0,3u – 300x)
Pacher (0,3u – 600x)
Zimmermann (0,3u – 400x)
L. Hamilton (0,3u – 400x)
Eulalio (0,3u – 500x)

So, here’s my final betting list. Before I dive into it, let me explain my approach: I typically allocate 30 units per race, considering multiple scenarios.

(1/2) #TourDownUnder One last rider I’d like to highlight: Ion Izagirre. His 2024 season didn’t start well, but he finished in excellent form (5th in Montreal, 4th in Lombardia). He’s going for the GC now, and Cofidis needs the points.

#TourDownUnder What result will Plapp achieve? Expectations for him are quite divided. Some see him as one of the top contenders, while others think his lack of explosiveness gives him slim chances.

What do you expect from him? Will he make it to the overall podium, or is it not his time?

#TourDownUnder Other riders I’ll be keeping an eye on:

Rochas,Pacher: The FDJ duo, if the stars align, they could even grab a stage win.

L. Hamilton: Once a top Australian talent, his form vanished. Curious to see how the team change impacts him.

Eulalio: Bahrain’s new Portuguese climber.

#TourDownUnder Another recommendation: Corbin Strong for GC podium. As I’ve seen, he’s available at around 20s, which also holds value. Over the first four stages, he could pick up plenty of bonus seconds with a bit of luck, and then it will be about limiting his losses

(1/2) #TourDownUnder From a betting perspective, there’s one rider I’d highlight so far: Thomas Gloag (81). I was hoping for high odds on him, and that’s exactly what we got. He’s been in Australia since at least January 2nd, so adapting to the heat won’t be an issue.

(1/2) I’ll also share free betting tips when I see good opportunities. Here are some of my biggest catches from recent years:

Wellens – 2014, Eneco Tour GC win (251)
Landa – 2015, Itzulia Basque Country stage 5 (126)
McCarthy – 2016, Tour Down Under stage 2 (126)
