Adding the National Portrait Gallery in DC to the list - it’s great for art geeks and non art geeks alike! Most people go for the presidential portraits or the Michelle Obama painting (absolutely stunning), but you can spend hours upon hours in there as it covers sports, entertainment, history etc..
If you just like famous paintings and aren’t an art GEEK, the best museums for you would be:
1. Art Institute of Chicago
2. MoMA in NYC
3. Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh
4. British museum
I wouldn’t even recommend the Louvre. People literally go see the Mona Lisa and leave 💀
