Last Sunday, I had a review session with a student who was in some ranked debt. Five days later, I get an update. They played their first X-rank calc, went 5-0, and earned a respectable power for their skill level.
I couldn't be happier with the effort.

I was thinking about why people may prefer a bottom-up approach (pouring so much effort into working on a weapon or character first and then seeing the “bigger picture” afterwards) when trying to improve. It makes sense for quick results, but not for long-term ones at higher ranks.
