A cyclists was killed in #Stittsville last week. Seeing a trailer being ditched in the bike lane last night, I report to bylaw to have it addressed. File was closed. This morning I walk out to this. Maybe we should take enforcement more seriously on issues that endanger people. @glengower.ca

@en.ottawa.ca Can you let OCT they still need to update the bus sign from the old routes.

Remember cyclist and pedestrians. Road safety is a shared responsibility! 😔

City of Ottawa policies are another reasons why people drive in the suburbs. Here is #Stittsville latest protected bike infra. It's the one on the the left of the cleared sidewalk. Why is it not being cleared?

Took my spouse 2 hours to commute on OC Transpo this morning (normally 45min). Bus was half hour late and then dealt with traffic. The idea that Sutcliffe and Council are contemplating service cuts if the feds don't bail them out is fucking enraging.

Love the quote in Shifter's new video. "I was just using my car as a winter coat" I see a lot of that in my hood. More time spent warming up the car, dealing with traffic and looking for parking instead of walking 1km to the store.
We need a fundamental shift in behaviour.
This is the biggest barrier to more people riding bikes in cities

Not sure if this is obvious. But you should fully expect an American government run by corrupt criminals will attempt to interfere with the upcoming Canadian election.

Canada and Canadians need to be aware of this and defend against it.

City staff will inherently choose the option that limits costs the city. Councilors are the ones that can balance other aspects of a decision, like fairness and humanity

Vote for people that see beyond cost and can fairly assess issues not just those that rely on City staff to direct their vote
City staff come out against anti-renoviction bylaw | CBC News
After assessing whether Ottawa should implement an anti-renoviction bylaw to better protect tenants, city staff say they do not support it for a few reasons.

Fairness for Ottawa Was Always Going to Fail
Expect to hear that help is just around the corner, until elections provide the Mayor with the excuse to abandon this fruitless campaign.

This OC Transpo......
In cities where there isn’t likely to be investment available for badly needed service improvements AND free fares (sadly, that’s MOST cities), I strongly prefer strategic ridership-focused SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS, along with reasonable fares (and free fares for under 18, over 60, and low income). 3/

This irritates me, the catch basins on my street empty directly to the local creek, it's also just a waste of salt. What is the point of this behaviour instead of actually just using it in a more meaningful way. #Ottawa #Stittsville

Turns out you can't take an entire period of penalties and expect to win. Team Canada's problem is a lack of discipline.

@glengower.bsky.social is the bike lanes at the new Huntmar/Maple Grove intersection supposed to be cleared. Currently covered in snow and seems odd that they wouldn't be cleared given the purpose is to improve safety.

OC Transpo pro tip for improving reliability...
If you have a bus lane at your disposal, fucking use it. Bus is running late because they opted to merge with traffic as soon as possible. Despite a long and open bus lane. 🙄

To address homelessness, Sutcliffe says he'd "adopt a policy to offer housing and supportive services as a first step, work to increase transitional housing and "move away" from using shelters and motels.

Look how great our mayor came through on another promise!
Ottawa’s homeless population has more than doubled since 2021
There are almost 3,000 people in Ottawa experiencing homelessness, according to new data released by the city. On Oct. 23 dozens of volunteers canvassed the municipality for the Point-in-Time (PiT) count, a snapshot of the number of people living without a home. It is a national effort that helps governments and agencies understand the number […]

Donald Trump and Doug Ford, the two stupidest politicians I am aware are having a pissing contest. Where the inevitable outcome is fucking over the livelihood of people on both sides of the border.

Elect a bunch of clowns and you will get a circus.

OCTranspo doesn't know how to proper do a launch event. I'm glad transit is evolving, but we still don't have a fully operational (7 days a week) date, just some reference to phase 3, which no body knows when that actually will be. Given the history and delays, maybe just put out a press statement.

Seriously, what is damn point of having a bus lane if the bus driver just merges into the traffic jam as soon as possible.

Buses are royalty of the road hierarchy now take the god damn crown and VIP this shit!

This particular stretch of sidewalk give the big middle finger to snow and ice...... for about 10 years.
I really don't know what's the deal with the City of Ottawa and their addiction to salt. The local creek is about 50 meters away so guess where all the runoff will go.
