When I was struggling through a long stretch of burnout before the pandemic, a counselor suggested trying to remember something that had made me happy in the past - a hobby, a band, whatever - and digging back into that, no matter how silly. Feels like good advice to try to return to now.

It's been a miserable week! I made a pot of chili and some gingersnaps, anyone want lunch? (just call it soup if you're a pedant about chili: kidney, pinto, and white beans, ground turkey, tomatoes, spinach, lots of smoky spices). Chess and I are about to dish up and pop Miss Marple on the TV.

We heard scratching outside the caravan. I quietened the girls by telling them it was a Welsh sex maniac with a tin opener. The talent here is chronic. I had an embarassing moment with one of the older generation but I brought it to an abrupt end when I told him about my husband.
