We just saw “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding “ at the Mark Taper Forum. The production is excellent (but try not to sit too far to the side). Very highly recommended. Catch it if you can. Funny and very moving, incredibly well performed.

One of my favorite drag/acapella beauty shop quartets is performing in the same city I am in for the first time in forever. I got tickets. If you love great singing, great drag, and/or great humor, @dragapella.com on Feb 5 in Silverlake should be totally worth it.

The power of theatre. I’m sitting in my office drafting a lighting design, watching a recorded play I had never seen before and I’m breaking down in tears over the power of great writing and great performing.

Ouch. We were rear ended. I fear my husband’s newish car was totaled.

@hellitself.bsky.social posted another fantastic story today: "On the Rainy Sid of the Mountain..." by @ktwagner.bsky.social. I really really loved the story. (And the person I most want to recommend it to is not on bsky so I'll have to send an email.) hellitself.com/on-the-rainy...

I made home made chicken noodle soup for dinner. I made enough to have it several more times this week. Mmmmmmm.

Here is the official announcement. (I'm apparently faster than their social media team by like minutes)
Today from Hell Itself, @crboltz.bsky.social's weird Poe riff, "The Tell-Tale Pump"!

I know I usually write for theatre, but I occasionally write short stories. My second short story to be published was published this morning. It is free to read: hellitself.com/the-tell-tal...

I want to direct folks attention to a new short fiction website called hellitself.com. It is totally free, and they just published their first story (which is weird and creepy and I loved it!!) You can read their mission etc, but more importantly read Deborah L. Davitt's story published today!

I am teaching 2 online classes this term. Because later assignments will require students to post picture into our learning management system, I have them post a picture for their introduction. I don't care what the picture is. Many post their pets. I'm so happy to see all the 4-footed friends.

This morning was a lovely day for a bike ride before the first day of classes.

I discovered that if I wanted to use the hot tub today at a time when the water temperature was warmer than the air , I had do it this morning. So, I did.😛

I got up and it was almost 80F before sunrise. I hurried to get a bike ride in before it was insufferable. My chain slipped the gear and I had to do a small roadside repair. Still a lovely morning ride. I should be ready for my upcoming bike tour.

We picked up the blu-ray of the 2014 "Annie" at a used shop recently. We had never seen it before. Overall, I enjoyed it much more than the 1982 film. (If you want to see something vaguely faithful to the original stage play, see "Annie Live" 2021). The 1999 version is also fun.

There is a web comic I love called "The Devil's Panties" (which is far less salacious than it sounds). Today is a real winner:
