I just emailed the school board asking them to formally commit to honouring te Tiriti, despite the coalition's best efforts, let's do this

I have just submitted my 'phd research proposal' aka 'application to move from provisional to full registration' aka 'the fucker'. Time for a celebratory glass of tap water

Honestly, the IPCA report into the police (mis)handling of the McSkimming case makes for jaw-dropping reading.

But it’s 135 pages long so I’ve read it for you.

Here’s my report on one of the most serious failures of integrity in modern policing history⬇️⬇️
The inside story of how police protected a senior cop, and prosecuted his accuser instead
For years, police leadership ignored warnings about Jevon McSkimming. The IPCA has set out the chain of failures.

My 8yo heard Taylor Swift singing about kissing today and said, very seriously, 'Hmm. Sex.' And I tell you what mate, I was so composed in how I coped with that.

Imagine seeing that people can't afford books and going the solution is to market them differently, not let's get people more money. Not let's improve the standard of living first. Hahahaha

I hope to not be annoying re. grammar/punctuation etc and I'm totally not perfect, but I hope one day the communications and media professions figure out you dont need to hyphenate -ly adverbs. Anyway sorry

I am anxious and premenstrual and this is the way I am currently thinking about my novel-in-progress:
The elder Millennials are now middle-aged, perimenopausal, and depressed about the climate crisis and the fact they can't afford housing 🙃 it's a comedy

Mahi tahi is the word of the day for Erica's te reo lesson.
Collaboration and cooperation, two actions Erica has failed to do with the education profession.

I am so ugh in despair about the government. Leave the kids alone. I filled in last night a school questionnaire for the board and popped off about changes to the curricula and Ed. Act. Didn't realise the Act changes were happening today!

And just in from Seymour.
This is the intent. Forget whatever flowery words Erica uses. They want your child growing up in a NZ that is blind to its history. That’s not learning, it’s indoctrination.

I'm kind of obsessed with this hideous Altum Academy charter school opening down the road from me next term. There is just no info on it re. how to enrol (not that I want to lol)! Is it just for people in the know?! How are they going to have students in ~12 weeks' time? How is there no website!?
November 2, 2025 at 8:00 PM
I am so CROSS about the education system and all the mucking around. The curriculum mucking and the bloody charter schools, don't get me started. All this money and stress and resourcing should have gone into learning support - problem solved. It is so obvious, the absolute racist dumbarses. grrrr

Not only <all the terrible shit> but also: lots of schools structure their classes with mixed years. How is a teacher of a year 5/6 class supposed to manage this?

October 23, 2025 at 12:08 AM
This CLIMATE is bonkers outside, imagine if the govt spent money on things that matter like learning support and healthcare, also maybe like public infrastructure and like I dunno things that might help lower emissions for things like the future (and present) of CLIMATE and PEOPLE goddammit
