I learned today that the Japanese name for moogles, “mouguri” (モーグリ), is a portmanteau of mogura (土竜) meaning “mole” and koumori (蝙蝠) meaning “bat”. So they’re sort of called “mole bats” in Japan. 😅
Kind of like how Gojira (Godzilla) is a portmanteau of gorira (gorilla) and kujira (whale).
Crazy.
