My moral stance is and continues to be anti-consumerist, but going even harder now. It's been hard breaking up with Publix but I'm working on it. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

The fact that Hurricane Helene wiped away my town and side job is really hitting me fresh. I could really use a place to go, see people, get out of my head. I'm trying to just enjoy my work and kitties and spending time with Dade. But I would kill to chat with locals and organize a bookshelf

The world is too much with us — Actually I Can
As I sat down to write today, my thoughts were flying in a whole bunch of directions all at once. How to be of aid. How to comfort. How to assist. How to offer resources. How to entertain on some leve...

I know we all have a lot to worry about but — this bill in Oklahoma is the thin edge of the wedge. In the guise of an “anti child p**n” bill, it actually could outlaw things like romance novels, LGBTQIA books, etc — felonies for not just authors but also booksellers. Straight outta Project 2025.
So Bill sb593 has passed through its second hearing in Oklahoma, and they've outlined what everything means.
If it passes, it would be a FELONY,with no less than 10yrs prison time and $10k in fines, for me to write my books or draw my art....

A FELONY.

Please get me out of here 😭😭😭

I got very nostalgic for the aughts today. Never really thought about how that my 00s felt like a big Bowie/Gaga/Scissors Sisters/Rocky Horror dance when I wasn't thinking about all the GWB presidency nonsense. Maybe I need a little more of that subversive gay party vibe back

Okay so from 2016 to 2020 I went through "Am I dying or is it just stress over the geopolitical landscape?" By this time I was 38 and it started to be "Am I dying or is it perimenopause?" Now, ladies and gentlemen, for the first time ever on the same stage...

I had a few Amazon cat food deliveries scheduled because we were having trouble with other deliveries during the hurricane. but I just canceled those. I asked Dade if we could ditch our Amazon Prime subscription and he agrees with me.

Everyone says they're leaving Meta for here but this place doesn't feel conducive to the casual friend chat that Facebook was for. So idk. But I guess I can just blab about whatever and not worry about it

Asheville can finally drink their water & shower & wash dishes, after almost two months, and while I was lucky enough to have water in my town outside, I'm SO happy for everyone I know here!

I've seen a lot of discussion of giving up news and let me suggest reading more history! It gives you a rich context of civics, politics, propaganda, human nature, how people cope with hard times, and helps remove the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia.

The worst is when you're inspired to write but when you go to do it none of your projects actually want to work with you. Like...vibes great, words bad.

I'm reading the Moon Child manga and it is INSANE. Mermaids fly through space to Earth and lay eggs and if the Little Mermaid's child doesn't mate with the right person I guess Chernobyl will happen & the rest uhhh I probably shouldn't even talk about. 80s shoujo is...WILD

I just told someone I would get X done in October "lord willing and the creek don't rise" because after Hurricane Helene that just feels like the best way to plan from now on
