It was a very January game in late January, but it's better to find ways to win those than not and Miami had just enough shot creation to take a defensive slugfest in Phoenix.

Nobody is going to pat the Heat on the back for a game few will remember in a week, but they found a different approach to ensure the result, hammering the Jazz on the offensive glass at a historic rate as Niko Jovic enjoyed a get-right night.

Pelle driving and both would-be Utah help defenders having their backs entirely turned to the play should tell you a bit about how this one is going. That, and Miami is up to 16 ORebs with 8 min to go in the 2nd Q.

Heat's 10 offensive rebounds are the most they've had in a first quarter in at least the past 10 years.
January 25, 2026 at 3:12 AM
The oddest conundrum of this Heat team, statistically at least, is that they remain No. 1 in transition frequency but are No. 27 in transition efficiency.

Everyone has an opinion about Bam Adebayo, and after years of those opinions calcifying the conversation around him has broken down.

Let's clear the air and discuss about who he is and what he's being asked to do.

This was the first time since Bam was drafted that Miami lost a game in which they scored 30+ points off turnovers.

Why? How? This also would have been just the second game Miami won in those years while being outshot by 20+% from three.

A couple of unforced errors on Miami's part as the mid-range looks that were falling earlier started to hit the rim is all it takes when Portland is shooting like this.

Felt like Miami played the better, and certainly cleaner with Blazers handing out turnovers like candy, half but they were so severely outshot from three they're still down one. Otherwise, they've been able to get to their game as intended.

Elio - which was fine - over Infinity Castle for Best Animated is also a little silly.

Everyone talking about F1 but Frankenstein in Best Picture is far more laughable. At least F1 is good.

Did you really think the Heat would draft Kasparas Jakucionis and we weren't going to sit down to discuss Lithuanian basketball and Arvydas Sabonis?

The rule of back-to-backs is that as long as you win, you get a pass on whatever else transpired.

The Heat did their job, shooting their way to victory in a get-right game reminiscent of the earlier months of this season.

Heat have set their season-high for threes in a first half with 15. Franchise record is 24, set in that same game against the Clippers.

Heat-Kings feels like an entirely different sport from Heat-Thunder a few days ago.
January 21, 2026 at 4:06 AM
Not entirely sure how well the Heat are playing, but they're 10-of-17 from three midway through the 2nd Q and that covers up a whole lot of blemishes.
January 21, 2026 at 3:48 AM
Considering who the Warriors had available by the end, with Curry in foul trouble, it's tough to look at this as anything but a missed opportunity.

Miami did their work on the glass, but turnovers cost them and the shooting couldn't keep up.

You’re lucky if you get a handful of games like Heat-Thunder in a regular season. Luckier still if you remember them years later.

Fortunately, Myron Gardner made sure to give us a memory we won’t soon forget.

The shorthanded Heat needed many things to go right against the champs, and there's many things they made sure went right.

That's what you need, including magic from Adebayo, Wiggins and two-way Myron Gardner, to pull out an unlikely victory.

As Miami took 34 more field-goal attempts than the Thunder tonight, it's just the eighth time that's happened in the NBA since 2000. Strangely, teams went 3-5 in those games, including tonight.

And we have ourselves another clutch Heat game.
January 18, 2026 at 3:16 AM
The way the Heat are playing, it feels like they would be up double digits against most other teams.
January 18, 2026 at 2:49 AM
Myron Gardner saved the first half, there's no doubt about that.
January 18, 2026 at 2:10 AM
Myron Gardner three straight threes in two minutes for the best stretch of his young career.
