well, like- salt levels, mineral composition, water levels. see the monitors go deep, so we can figure out rainfall patterns by looking at how much water gets soaked up by the dirt!

i um, fudged the year a little when i was speaking to the doc so we're gonna get 500 years worth! i'd have been happy with just 50. sure it's still just a drop in the ocean when it comes to geological studies but we can learn so much from this!

it's kinda basic? there's no grass so the plains are all these other tangled plants in various states of competitive evolution. highly fascinating for the scientific mind...
