Great to see this paper with @elainetao.bsky.social out in print at the Biophysical Journal. Using Alphafold to study conformational transitions in 32 voltage-gated channel superfamily members #ionchannel #AI #StructuralBiology

2 yrs ago @yiechanglin.bsky.social sent me this movie of lipid scrambling by OSCA1.2. Now we show it’s common to WT OSCA/TMEM63 proteins, mechanically activated, cholesterol dependent, and protects cells from damaging forces. Awesome collab with @charlesdcox.bsky.social &Zhang lab. tiny.cc/tmem63

We show where chloroquine and peptides bind and help explain the polyspecific transport mechanism (2/2)

Excited to share John's new work in Nat Coms! We demonstrate how PfCRT, a polyspecific peptide transporter, turns into a drug transporter for antimalarials like chloroquine and why this causes a fitness cost for the malaria parasite (1/2)

Also bittersweet to announce the final work of @elainetao.bsky.social in our lab, using AF2 to study conformational transitions in 32 voltage-gated channel superfamily members 🤩 we're so excited to watch you Nav-igate the next steps of your career, Dr. Tao & are so proud of you 🎩

Bittersweet to announce the wonderful YC's final work in our lab. We are so proud of everything she's accomplished (incl. this beautiful study showing how the TAM complex facilitates lipid flow between the bacterial inner & outer membranes). We can't wait to see what you do next, Dr. Lin 🤩
1/ In my final project as part of the @corrylab.bsky.social, we show the bacterial TAM complex facilitates the spontaneous flow of phospholipids from the IM to the OM in MD simulations..

Thrilled to share our latest preprint from @yiechanglin.bsky.social & @ciarawallis.bsky.social showing that AF2-Multimer and AF3 can quickly & accurately predict the oligomeric states & structures of proteins (& maybe can identify multiple biologically relevant oligomeric states 👀)

Big congratulations to the very sharp @elainetao.bsky.social who submitted her PhD last week! Our greatest Nav channel expert is rumoured to be joining the dark side of Kv. #drtao #phdone @scienceanu.bsky.social 🔪🎆👩‍🔬👩‍🎓

Surely having the majority of grants lasting only 2 years creates a greater workload and less certainty 😬

Big congratulations to @riottowow.bsky.social .bsky.social for winning an Anders Early Career Award at @lorneproteins.bsky.social ! Presenting his work on the lipid lined pore of the OSCA mechanosensitive channel. #lorneproteins2025

Proud of our latest work w/ the Zhang lab showing from structure & simulation how XPR1, the only known human Pi exporter, is regulated by InsP8 & KIDINS220 + Pi selection & permeation through a channel-like “knock-kiss-kick” mechanism 🚪💋🦵

Excited to start the year with this paper with
@elainetao.bsky.social. Using simulations we show sodium channel blocking drugs bind at many sites within the pore and fenestrastions rather than at a single distinct pose.

Great start pack. Are you able to add us as well. Very interested to connect with this group

Can you add us to your starter pack? Interested in all kinds of transporters especially those in the malaria parasite
We’ve had nearly 3 years of review, review, review.

We need reviews, but it’s blindingly obvious that Australian research needs much greater Government investment while those reviews are done.

This was true 3 years ago. Still true now.

Hi Ute, are you able to add us at @corrylab.bsky.social to the starter pack. Keen interest in membrane proteins, transport and lipids

Hi Marwin, are we at @corrylab able to join your stater pack? Interests in molecular dynamics and proton transfer in biology

I'm following the Friday trend to make my own word scramble. Mine is a bit of a historical mess, but lots of fun to try
