sometimes i see people go "how can i make my fic popular? what tropes appeal to a wide range of audience?" and meanwhile i'm out here like "fuuuuuck lets do something totally bullshit that will appeal to nobody but me :)" and maybe 2 people go "masterful gambit, sir, have a kudos" and it's the best
