Hail Corn!!
Going so many years between getting tattoos has caused me to forget certain details about the whole process. The fact that I hate using ointments and lotions on my body is one of them.

V-Varen Nagasaki fucking destroyed Ventforet Kofu this weekend and now sit at the top of the J2 standings. I just need the Portland Timbers to get a result against San Diego FC and I will call this weekend good.

Evander’s already been booed by the stadium crowd and it’s still over an hour before kickoff. This will be an interesting match. #RCTID

My big takeaway from meandering throughout my old stomping grounds in Japan is a reminder that all of the things that I loved as a kid are still really fucking cool.

Watching V-Varen Nagasaki defeat Oita Trinita 1-0 was one of the better match day experiences I’ve had in a while.

Despite being half-Japanese, I don’t really physically present myself as such thanks to my gaijin father. Which is why people in Nagasaki seem so surprised when I say something in Japanese with an obvious Kyushu accent, I guess.

I had forgotten how nice and efficient public transportation is in Japan in comparison to the US. If this sounds like me shitting on American public transport again, it’s because I am.

Returned to Japan for a couple of weeks. First time I’ve been back in many, many years. This time with my son. Going to see if I can dig up any inspiration from the past.

My favorite thing about being at the airport is leaving it. Yeah.

Well, this Portland-Toronto match is already off to a terrible start. Probably going to be yelling at my TV for a while…

Drawing a lot lately due to a sudden surge of inspiration to start something new. I may not be the best artist around, but I can say that I am at least consistently not great.

I have been strangely productive today. I'd love for this to be a habit, but...eh.

Funny how the word “unprecedented” didn’t fill me with absolute dread prior to 2016.

Goddamn. Onosato has been a beast this tournament! I really want to see him promoted to Yokozuna.

Social media is less exciting than ever.

Bouanga is a goddamned flopping machine!

If you have one of those Great Depression-era cookbooks that originally belonged to your great grandmother or something just laying around the house, you may want consider dusting it off. Just have feeling that it may suddenly become very useful again.

Mailed off my colorectal cancer screening test sample to my doctor today because, well, that’s what we middle-aged folks have to do. Not sure why I needed to fill out a return address on the envelope, though. Seriously—if the USPS can’t deliver it for some reason, I don’t need it returned to me.

Spent an unusually large amount of time discussing our personal favorite types of tea with my coworkers today. Not even close to the first time we’ve had this conversation, either. My answer, by the way, is Darjeeling. And now you know.

I was thrilled to see the Portland Timbers beat the Colorado Rapids 3-0 last night, but to pair that with V-Varen Nagasaki thrashing Blaublitz Akita 5-1 (with a Matheus Jesus hat trick no less)…that’s just a good weekend of soccer for me.

I have no business to be feeling optimistic about the future, but I something in me wants to hope. Could just be gas, though.
March 23, 2025 at 5:51 PM
Man, I really want the Timbers to face Hearts of Pine in the US Open Cup. #portland

We bought a new washing machine today. That was exciting in a…not exciting sort of way.

Spent all of yesterday feeling horrible from the gangbang of vaccinations the day before, and am now sitting at the courthouse for jury duty. This week really kind of sucks, you know?

Just got back from getting the shingles, tetanus, pneumonia, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B vaccines. And boy are my arms tired!

Seriously, they’re fucking sore.
