#vrt #deafspraak @openvld.bsky.social

Some impressions from our IDEoPOP Kick-off Conference on the international dimensions and effects of #populism held @uni-freiburg.de on 17-19 September. The entire network met in person for the first time for an inspiring mix of poster sessions by our doctoral candidates, panels, and roundtables.

Every day another Palestinian dies in Gaza, a piece of liberal democracy dies with it.

@sciencespo.bsky.social launches their new Paris Climate school while silencing Palestinian activism? Israel’s carbon footprint from their genocide on Gaza exceeds 100 countries… Practice what you preach, the genocide is also an environmental catastrophe. #freepalestine 🇵🇸

I have no words left…
In this context, I underlined that Israel has the right to defend itself. Iran is the main source of regional instability.

Europe has always been clear: Iran can never acquire a nuclear weapon. There is an urgent need for a negotiated solution.

Zero credibility left for the EU… Complicit in genocide, and nothing less than that. @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu should have stepped down two years go.
Just spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu

We are following developments in the Middle East with deep concern.

I reiterated our commitment to peace, stability, and diplomatic efforts leading to de-escalation.

Israël attacks Iran completely unprovoked, and accuses them of violations it commits every-single-day. The political motive is clear: Netanyahu’s government is failing, and he needs war to stay in power. How can anyone still defend Israël to any degree?

Former member of Israeli parliament Feiglin is calling every child and baby in Gaza an enemy. Stop this madness, 930.000 children are at risk of famine, 14.000 babies could die in the coming days according to the UN’s humanitarian chief, Tom Fletcher. This must end now!
