In terms of what cures are being lost:

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

The medieval world was as brutal as it was whimsical.
It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

Chadwick Boseman and James van der Beek both died in their 40s of an illness that's treatable if a colonoscopy catches it but almost no insurer covers them for people under 45, this is what Engels meant by "social murder"

Used the self check-out machine at CVS. It flagged my purchase of sleeping pills and Excedrin as needing age verification. Okay, no prob. Then I remembered I'm wearing my "Abolition is Creative" hoodie that has a broken down cop car that's taken over by Weed plants on the back. So, y'know. Normal.

I'm debating getting a little sleeper couch for my office/art room/recording studio/home gym. Does anybody have recs for small, compact sleeper sofas?

ICE β€œleft” Chicago in November, but they’ve disappeared three people from my community in two days this week.

Don’t believe the hype about them, leaving Minnesota, either.

The Trump admin is imprisoning pregnant childrenβ€”many who are victims of rapeβ€”in Texas, where they will be forced to carry high-risk pregnancies without proper medical care. A particularly horrifying example of the violent misogyny and racism that are the bedrock of their political project.

You've gotta put Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel on there. The chokehold it had on hipsters....

Although, she didn't actually graduate. So our most famous actual graduate would be Delta Burke of Designing Women fame.

I saw a reel about this same thing this morning, and as a CSA survivor, it made me feel so gross and awful. I just sat staring at my phone for a few minutes, trying to process it. Everything is fucked up.

THIS! I used to push myself through so many books I wasn't enjoying--no need. Be free! Read (or write) the thing you love!
Good morning! Life is too short to spend on stories you don't love. Don't be afraid to stop reading - or stop writing - a book if you're not enjoying it

"Embedded" implies that it's been jammed into the drywall, so like. He's just gonna Excalibur that shit for an intruder?

Also, I was definitely expecting more discussion of the Catechism and less funny YouTube videos about Saint Patrick attempting to describe the trinity. But to be fair, our teacher tonight was a substitute. I suppose that's the adult sacrament version of rolling in the TV and vhs player.

I made the mistake of listening to the news on my way home from Confirmation classes, and tbh, I would have rather been debating trinitarianism.

Early indications that it's a whole lot dumber than I expected.
AP says the El Paso closure is due to the military doing something with counter-drone tech against the Mexican cartels. CNN says whatever it was, it came out of Biggs air force base in Fort Bliss.
