Out in June. 🙂
Eleven-year-old Arlo Skinner hasn’t felt settled since his dad ‘disappeared’ in London. Moving to a small Cornish village with his mum was meant to help, but making new friends — or trusting anyone — still feels tough.

Certain numbers accompany us through our lives, connected to our memories of people and places, of significant events. What numbers remain with you decades later? And why?

This poem is taken from Whatever You Do, Just Don't (HappenStance Press, 2023), my second full collection...

It’s my annual gift to those who will realise tonight that they’ve forgotten a card. Works a treat, apparently. 😆

Teachers, if your class is reading Jakub’s Otter, and you want a handy discussion guide, literacyshed.com have one already prepared. Have a look at their other resources, too.

Thrilled for all the Carnegie longlisted writers, but also gutted because some of my favourite, brilliantly written nominated books didn’t go through. I’m very hard to please.

This week it’s Children’s Mental Health Week. Keep an eye out for poets posting poems teachers can use to open discussions. Here are 3 of mine that might be useful to you, if you teach late KS2 or early KS3. They all provoke conversations that, otherwise, might not be had.

Thank you to our brilliant poets Matt Abbott and Cassandra Parkin who have been visiting Rotherham schools as part of our project in collaboration with local green engineering firm AESSEAL. Year 7 and 8 students from 6 schools have written a stack of excellent poems imagining a greener future!

COVER REVEAL DAY! It’s that day when authors believe their story will become a physical thing readers can hold, rather than just inhabiting their imagination. 😆
