A Christmas surprise: if you want to download the open access copy of Stealing from the Gods, you now can... The official birthday is in a couple of weeks, but time is an arbitrary construct. (Oh, and we'll be PA6029.T46 K67 2026 at the library. An actual real call number!)
Stealing from the Gods
Stealing from the Gods investigates how authors writing between the first century BCE and second century CE addressed the issue of temple robbery or sacrilegium. As a self-proclaimed empire of pious p...

When I say that I have the best students, I really mean it...! So proud of all the OU MA Classics students getting their results this week. 🎉
@openuniversity.bsky.social
I want to do a boast.

I finished my MA in Classics and I just found out this week that I got a distinction. I am very very proud of myself.

My dissertation was on women in Ancient Rome who wore the toga. Ask me anything. Really anything (about my subject, or I'll try more broadly in Classics).

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

If you fancy kicking some of that Black Friday money our way we’d be super grateful!

You won’t get anything in return but a nice feeling and the knowledge that you’re helping kids all across the UK to learn about the ancient world.

We’re 80% of the way to our year target

I guess I now have to do a thread on shoes in ancient Mesopotamia in response to this (which happens to be from one of my favourite accounts).

I’m not an archaeologist, nor do I really know anything about shoes, but let’s go on this journey together.
can't believe this ancient mesopotamia shoe wearing ass said people need to dress up at the airport

Tomorrow is a month away from Xmas Eve. Please have a look to see if you have any children's clothes, books, toys, etc that are no longer needed & donate them to your local charity shop ASAP. The demand for these items is now, not after Xmas. People are skint but still want to make Xmas special. ❤️
