I’ve been listening to a lot of Cloud Cult lately. I was lucky enough to see the linked show live… even without the backing of a full orchestra they’re an amazing inspirational band.

Not sure if it was intentional but love that she’s playing white in the second shot.

She’s in the lead role now.

Fully expected this to say something along the lines of “going to eat a lot of peaches.”

As a teacher it has never gotten old when a student stops and takes that briefest moment to think when I say “See you next year.” There’s that realization and just crush that it’s not summer break.

But for the actual summer break, I make sure to mutter “up yours Krabappel” at the opening bell.

And as a frequent golfer in the late 80s early 90s at Bear Creek.

And as a birder who has watched the Katy prairie and a significant part of the watershed get paved over by master community after master community.

(Time to play Talking Heads’ Nothing But Flowers at a loud volume.)

I’m still in absolute wow just wow at this.

“When the government chooses not to condemn land… the government bears the risk.”

So the people who developed in the flood plain don’t bear the risk.

I read this as someone who lives downstream and was just four inches away from flooding during Harvey.

Upstream homeowners. Wow. I’m reading the ruling and I have lots of thoughts. But…

Was the argument that the government should have purchased all that land (to pool height) way back when?

Have an opportunity to watch a little bit of Brighton today.

Here’s hoping Brighton can keep Sunderland in check for at least the first 46 seconds.

Math department party and we do a gift exchange. Gifts can get stolen twice before they’re frozen.

First gift to get frozen (and before the coffee advent calendar)…

@effinbirds.com

(Department chair said she can’t have the calendar in her classroom. 10 commandments yes. Effin birds no.)

Wow. I’m just imagining sub 20 5k pace /at 10%!/. Looks like you’ve got a great week ahead of you.

Really stoked for you and the whole process leading up to Cocodona. Thanks for sharing - I’m excited to follow along.

Last night I participated in my first chunder (beer mile) in over 15 years. I took part in the NA division - milk.

Drink a pint, run a lap. x4.

(A huge thank you to the lunch ladies for assisting with the milk cartons.)

The public track at Memorial Park was amazing. First time there.

Time 9:49.

Western States lottery and the Hardrock lottery are today.

Good luck everyone!

Nope. Can’t make me.

I will never say anything bad about Tom Baker.

Our oldest asked how long the drive is to where we’re camping and when I told her seven hours she replied, “oh I can for sure handle that. That’s a real short drive. That’s even shorter than school.”

To say I adore my children would be a vast understatement. On Saturday, in the span of five minutes, I heard our middle screaming from the other room - I have a window in my mouth I have a window in my mouth. She just lost her first tooth.

Rose Lavelle.

So very good.

What’s your favorite song about the rain?

(Rain might not be in the title of the song, but still…)

Agreed with all on the identification.

Came here to add that they’re quite abundant in the Addicks and Bush reservoirs.

Oh my God!

I saw the title and had a good laugh about how good this class going to be. And it far exceeded my expectations. That’s not going to be leaving my brain - ever.

Fantastic replies all around.

Getting multiple versions of Blackbird has been a treat (such a great song).

And Cake - oh yeah!

First that came to my mind was William Shatner’s cover of Pulp’s Common People.

I only get to watch Brighton on television on rare occasion… and when I do. 🤦‍♂️

It would be a much better use of my time and healthier for my well being if I were doing, well, anything else.

One of my wedding vows was to relocate spiders for my wonderful wife. The good news is it means she doesn’t kill them - now she just shouts/screams that I need to fulfill my vows.
