The next mayoral election in Paris will be a choice between returning to the past, a city for cars, lies and empty gestures, Dati/Trump-style populism, or continuing to move forward into the 21st century for a happy proximity city, human centric, liveable and more peaceful.

Here's a 👀 at our Osborne Village Bell Tower Plaza mural for the OBV BIZ !

Neighbourhoods built after the advent of the car don't need to be designed around the car. Consider the Weespergilde development in Weesp—a suburb 20km outside of Amsterdam—which consists of seven car-free blocks and 42 homes including single family, starter apartments, maisonettes and townhouses.🧵

With the red asphalting of the cycle paths, the extensive 15-month long roadworks on Utrecht's Amsterdamsestraatweg are now complete!

The work has transformed an unattractive and unsafe car-oriented shopping street into a green, safe and attractive street for cyclists and pedestrians!

Work continues on Graham Avenue making it even more attractive. Kudos to @coolstreetswpg.bsky.social and @stephanedorge.bsky.social for the beautiful street art.

Really exciting to see Graham Avenue being transformed into Winnipeg’s first permanent pedestrian street. @coolstreetswpg.bsky.social is painting the pavement. Planters, furniture and art is being installed - including a giant fan that can be pedaled to cool people off.

One of the most intriguing & misunderstood street design and place-making ideas in the world is the Dutch #Woonerf, or “living street.” When I studied woonerfs while working for the City of Groningen, I learned the key is street design that makes it impossible to drive faster than people can walk.
