On a happier family Christmas note, my aunt made traditional Serbian sarma from my great grandma's recipe (here, written in my grandma's hand, who has long since passed). It was fantastic! I am going to try to make a vegetarian version for my Buddhist beloved (traditionally, served on fast days) ♡

First, a red-tailed hawk high above surveilling his hunting ground; then, a cooper's hawk swooping through the treeline spooking innumerable doves; finally, a sharp-shinned expertly knifing above and below a fence line to target plump robins.
