"The exercise of imagination is dangerous to those who profit from the way things are because it has the power to show that the way things are is not permanent, not universal, not necessary."

— Ursula K. Le Guin
Free states can resist attempts to block funding for healthcare, education, food, and housing by making those basic needs into universal basic rights protected by law. Meet everyone's basic needs, it's the right policy and a defense against fascist division and scapegoating.

If you cloak your racism and bigotry in the lie of just wanting to "preserve your culture" then your culture is racism and bigotry, your culture actually should be destroyed, and it's the duty of every decent person to help destroy it.

The problem isn't actually AI, it's capitalism and AI as we know it. Consider the Holodeck in Star Trek. It's generative AI based on prompts with no regard for IP rights because in a post-scarcity society you don't need to worry about food, housing, and other basic needs.

Mainstream US media has always had serious issues but it is now completely unreliable. Written articles, radio news, and television broadcasts are uncritically repeating what the Trump regime says, using their specific language and phrasing without fact-checking it.

Sotomayor's dissent: "Imagine for that entire time, you are suffocating. You want to breathe; you have to breathe. But you are strapped to a gurney with a mask on your face pumping your lungs with nitrogen gas. Your mind knows that the gas will kill you. But your body keeps telling you to breathe."

This idea that military service history disqualifies someone from being a leftist is wrong. Veterans against war are essential members of any society and social movement that aims to end military imperialism, and they have often led the anti-war movements throughout history.

There are fascists running the United States government right now. It's really obvious who the fascists are and who opposes them. Everything else, at this moment, is honestly a deadly distraction.

The slow stream of small negative stories about Platner are obviously just bits of opposition research being strategically released to try and protect the political establishment and the status quo by stopping his populist and leftist campaign platform from winning.

Meanwhile... there are actual Nazis in the White House running a Christofascist white supremacist campaign of terror across the country, targeting migrants and trans and other queer people, and anyone they decide isn't American enough. Everyone opposing those fascists is an ally.
October 22, 2025 at 2:39 AM
Platner is very obviously awake to injustice on a structural level. Bad faith attacks that try to frame him as secretly evil are exactly what was wrong with non-intersectional identity politics, the kind used by corporatists to attack anyone who challenges their wealth and power.
