CDPAP is supported by Fiscal Intermediaries: community-based champions of home health care, with deep roots in the state's communities. The Program supports the state's growing population of older adults by providing long-term care assistance needed to age in place as well as supporting individuals with disabilities. CDPAP Personal Assistants support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal hygiene, and light housekeeping. Unlike traditional home health aides, CDPAP personal assistants can administer medication, use medical equipment, and provide wound care. Many aides are trusted relatives or friends. CDPAP Personal Assistants can be anyone aged 21 and over who is not a spouse of the patient. Fiscal intermediaries (FIs) support administrative duties on behalf of consumers and care providers. Column 1: Providers Home health aides are disproportionately older women of color compared to the statewide workforce. - 81% of home health aides are women, compared to 51% of workers statewide. - 51% of home health aides are aged 55 or older, compared to 40% of workers statewide. - 70% of home health aides are People of Color, compared to 44% of workers statewide. Column 2, Recipients Care recipients across the state are often older New Yorkers, a group that has grown significantly in the last decade. - 4.3M Aged 65+ (2034) projected signified by a dotted line pointing to growth between three numbers. - 3.7M Aged 65+ (2024) - 2.9M Aged 65+ (2014) A yellow line separates the page.
