Excited to share this article from my PhD work. We found that, among major metabolites, only glutamine circulatory flux changed, whereas the levels of many metabolites changed across tissues, including hydroxyproline (a key component of collagen in the ECM), with flux changes in 'minor' metabolites

Metabolic dysregulation is a hallmark of aging, but how metabolic pathway activity (flux) changes with age has yet to be broadly assessed. Here, Jankowski et al. measure metabolite concentrations and fluxes in aged mice, finding that major metabolic fluxes are remarkably well preserved with age despite widespread concentration changes.
