My favourite thing about the civil service is when people address each other as “colleagues”. Very cute!

Bernie Sanders is too experienced and long in the tooth to have such a grindingly slow journey away from the trappings of Liberal/Labour Zionism

I find it annoying when people decrying polarisation as if there aren’t very real antagonisms in our society that need to be worked through. In a democracy experiencing serious underlying structural issues, this should be seen as a good thing.

It’s actually ethically unfathomable for me to condemn Hamas or any form of Palestinian resistance

A little nuance please. Racism CAN be pretty good for capitalism, actually. Capitalism relies on a particular class system for profit extraction. Racism tends to keep the working class divided and underclasses are usually motivators for keeping workers in line lest they fall into it.
There's a certain kind of 'everything is about capitalism' leftwinger who is particularly useless at the current moment, because their argument relies on the idea that racism is somehow good for profit and rent extraction. It's not. Racism is bad for business, and the left shouldn't concede that.

Gaza Freedom Flotilla has released statement that Black labour leader Chris Smalls (Amazon Labour Union) faced violence that no one else on Handala did. He has been severely beaten in Israeli custody.

Smalls follows in legacy of Black radical tradition for Palestine. Labour must stand for Smalls.

The mad thing is we all have these fantasies of what we would have done during the holocaust (righteous protection of as many people as possible and going out of our way to support resistance and liberation) but we’re not doing shit about Gaza

The civil service needs to get over the idea that every single deliverable needs an obscene amount of reviewing and sign off from multiple senior stakeholders. It makes it so hard to get anything done and just exists for SCS to justify their existence and feel like they’re “adding value”

Just want to go on record to say that if the cops ever extrajudicially execute me and then spend 20 years obstructing any kind of judicial process to hold them to account, you absolutely, under no circumstances "have to forgive" them.

Reckon it’s because
a) their donors want it
b) they’re anticipating that they’ll follow Blair, Clinton, Obama, Cameron, Osborne et al into the speakers circuit/book deal/lucrative-consulting-hustle space where they’ll make bank out of talking about all the “tough decisions” they made as leaders
Highly dubious to have a government that’s this unpopular, having bullshat its way into office, now talking about raising the pension age. Democratically speaking, I mean. What’s their mandate for this shit, exactly?
