that said I think transforming is a physically very uncomfortable process still since he's basically warping all of his aether into a different shape. simpler things like manifesting talons/claws isn't terrible, wings are doable, but going full-size Surtr form is a fairly rare occasion.

if someone with aethersight were to look at Shrike it'd probably physically hurt because his form takes up a volume of space that contains more than it possibly should and your brain can't really comprehend that
his aetheric composition is incredibly volatile and fucked up though since he's basically a zip file that can warp and change its inside contents in order to shift into his more draconic forms. it's also almost entirely fire aether that he has to vent excesses of at points.
