This has been a men's Royal Rumble of many missed/passed up opportunities to make or solidify stars.

Okay, so originally I wanted Sami to somehow win the Rumble. Then I wanted Oba Femi to go all the way. But now? Let it be Gunther. Chops for everyone's dinner, chuck 'em out, hit the Dvorak.

Oba Femi elminated. I cannot type BOO large enough.
January 31, 2026 at 10:36 PM
So is Sami going to drag himself into the Rumble and win it?

No, but it would be nice, eh?

As soon as that was the final three, the result had a tedious inevitably about it. But then, I'm very much not a fan of Liv, so that colours it for me.

Also, I can't be the only one to think the Sol Snatcher looked a thousand times better when she did it as a springboard off the ropes earlier.

I really enjoy making mix CDs for people (including album art). The only problem with this is that as soon as I've finished one, I think of several songs that I would have put on there if I'd thought of them earlier, and bam, a new CD begins.

Motel Sundown played an excellent set at The Colne Delta Blues & Americana Club in Brightlingsea, which is all up on my YouTube.

Holy underwear, it was five (5) years ago today that I put out the first (full) THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE! starring @maffewgregg.bsky.social and @thetomcampbell.bsky.social - the passage of time is a terrifying, cruel tango. youtu.be/lm5J0PVzino?...

Just back from Predator: Badlands - I really liked it, it comes very close to Prey (which I loved), but it's a very different film, so it's hard to place. Elle Fanning is terrific, and I always love a robot/android that works despite what should be catastrophic damage.

Went to Cineworld's classic secret screaming. The title card comes up: "Terrifier 3". Left.

I don't rate the Terrifier series, but even if I did, you can't term a 1-year old film classic.

From the Bob's Burgers Burger Book - the Hummus a Tune Burger.

I used yellow pepper instead of red (it was the only one we had), but I don't think that impacted the overall burger too much.

Good stuff.

Just got back from seeing The Descent at the pictures: 20 years later, and it's still awesome. Shauna Macdonald never needed to make another film again, because she was already in that (but glad she has been in more films since, obviously)

From the Bob's Burgers Burger Book: the Sympathy For The Devilled Egg burger.

It was very nice. I had fries with it, but they weren't done when I took the pictures.

It's been a hell of a year for England's women's teams. Hot dang.

Just back from The Naked Gun - it's good fun, about a 7.5/10. 85-90% of the jokes land, and there are a LOT of them. Special mention for the fact it manages to reference both Jack Frost (the terrible/brilliant horror movie) and Jack Frost (the terrible Michael Keaton movie).

Chloe Kelly: Specialist in Winning Things For England.

Also superhypermega credit to Hannah Hampton, Alessia Russo, Leah Williamson, Jess Carter, Lucy Bronze, and everyone else.

Just got back from Superman: provisionally 8/10, really enjoyed it. An excellent Superman and Clarke Kent from David Corenswet. Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane was good, and for one moment Nicholas Hoult had me sympathetic towards Lex Luther. Krypto's obviously the star of the picture, though.

From the Bob's Burgers Burger Book, I made the Don't You Four-Cheddar 'Bout Me burger. I had to substitute two of the four cheddars, but hot dang it was good. I used a spicy Mexican cheddar where the recipe has horseradish cheddar, and have decided that I am a wise man.

It's not that I've become Ghost obssessed over the last year or so, but there is some fantastic silent movie acting in this particular short film.

From the Bob's Burgers Burger Book, I made the Shake Your Honeymaker burger. It was great. I skipped the dates part because they sound gross.

It's the third burger I've made from the book, and so far it's 3/3 for good burgers. Not bad for a book based around background puns in an animated sitcom.

Just got back from seeing Thunderbolts* - 8/10, may upgrade. Really good. Felt like an early-phase MCU film in the best way. Florence Pugh is great, so is Lewis Pullman. Wyatt Russsell should be appreciated more. David Harbour is unmatched at terrible-at-being-a-dad-except-when-it-really-matters.

Just got back from watching Sinners - Outstanding, 9/10.
Michael B. Jordan (x2) has an incredible screen presence, Miles Caton puts in brilliant performance both dramatically and musically, Wunmi Mosaku is excellent, and the soundtrack/score are fantastic. Go and see it.
