And what actually is being called for? Setting up more distinct legal separation between Scottish Conservatives and UK Conservatives (and Lab, LD, etc). To what end?
November 24, 2025 at 7:52 PM
It's a little sneaky to describe GB parties as English in the screenshot.

But, notwithstanding that, in the general election, most people in Scotland voted for a party (Lab/Con/LD) which is organised to a greater or lesser way as GB wide. That suggests this isn't a big issue for most people?

(3/3, and the 🐘 in the room)

Uncomfortable though it may be, Reform *are* a growing electoral force in Scotland.

A post UK secession talking point from Reform that may well land well could be that Scotland has 'fought for independence from London just to give it away to Brussels'

(2/3) Unless nothing was done on EU membership until complete and final secession, the interconnectedness of Scotland/Westminster would essentially make Westminster a party to Scotland ascension talks. That's a three-way route to going nowhere slowly!!!

But.. Would Scotland in the EU actually be "welcomed and wanted"? (1/x)

Scotland/England would create a whole new EU border that doesn't exist today with all of the challenges, beaches and costs of immigration, customs, etc.

To avoid the worst of climate disaster, the world needs to (1) burn much less carbon, (2) eat much less meat, (3) reduce population growth.

For (2), what's your plan to help British agriculture continue to provide a meaningful amount of food that's lower meat. And how will you sell that plan?

@seatfrog.bsky.social are you having problems with LNER bookings? Can't see any auctions for EDI➡️Kings X at all next week?

It's fake news.

While there's plenty of need to try and reduce the damage done by fraud, there's no public policy on the part of the FCA, UK Finance or banks introducing a time delay on large cash withdrawals

The article is fake news.
However, older folks are unfortunately more vulnerable towards fraud. Articles from Age UK and Independent Age both talk to this

Older people who have been scammed are losing an average of nearly £4,000 each, according to new research from Independent Age.

I'm genuinely intrigued why you thought this was such a terrible idea?

Fraud and con artists disproportionately target OAPs with traumatic and life changing consequences. Enforced time-delay on unexpected high value cash withdrawals isn't *completely* crazy is it?

Social media posts claiming UK banks have introduced restrictions on daily cash withdrawals for people over 65 are not true.

(2/2) fraud & cons that older folks have been disproportionately targeted for. You may disagree with the crudeness of the control, but what makes you think that a similar control would never be considered in an independent Scotland?
November 4, 2025 at 3:10 PM
Secondly, what the bleeding heck would this have to do about independence anyway? *If* the article wasn't horseshit, it's saying that some banks were proposing putting in place some preventative withdrawal limits as a control to try and limit the devastating losses to (1/2)

Sex Education gives it a run for it's money? Sex Ed gave us Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, Aimee Lou Wood, Tanya Reynolds and probably moreige forgotten?
Loved that show, and *adored* Ncuti on stage in Born With Teeth recently!

The 'plan to maintain all trains in temple mills' seems to be a way of bringing depot work 'in House' from the SNCF and SNCB depots on the continent, with the 'unfortunate coincidence' of no remaining space in Temple Mills for competitor operations.

One part of me: don't be silly, you aren't on the ground and can't be providing an earth...
Other part of me: whyyyyy does it work though!

The 'if' being important here....
I'd argue that most of the countries listed as examples here had a much clearer preference to independence (two-thirds, three quarters) than Scotland, where the length and relative stability of the union puts separatist aligned folks closer to half the population
