I somehow missed this meeting of the broken minds, but this @theguardian.com piece about an insane conversation between Joe Rogan and Mel Gibson nearly broke MY brain.

A conversation between Joe Rogan and Mel Gibson summed up 2025 for me – and not in a good way | George Monbiot
From merrily dismissing climate science, to promoting irresponsible health claims, the podcast was an unintentional warning for our times, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

People: if you’re lovers of gloriously messy and undeniably addictive post-punk meets art rock, and you haven’t yet heard this year’s @coffinprick.bsky.social album, get to it!

The smear campaign against Mustapha Kharbouch -- falsely accused of the Brown shooting and MIT murder by powerful politicians, pundits and plutocrats -- is a prime example of how pervasive racism has become. It's also a story largely ignored by the mainstream media www.thenation.com/article/poli...

I’m not one for year end lists, but was flattered when asked by Annie Fell at @talkhouse.bsky.social to come up with some words on a release I enjoyed in 2025. I chose a reissue/compilation of music by the fairly obscure Los Angeles group, Repetition Repetition.

Rob Reiner and his wife’s death is very, very sad. People who contribute to the arts and humanities offer the world work that transcend time generationally. I just saw This Is Spinal Tap for the umpteenth time on the big screen for a reprieve from the daily madness. A full theatre laughing.

This is truly incredible and appalling. Bennie Thompson asks the exact correct question…To which they cannot answer, obviously.
GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

Bari Weiss/CBS News is holding a “Town Hall” with Erika Kirk.

This is just all too goddamned stupid.

This isn’t the “moment” (there are too many to pinpoint just one)…
But we are so far over the edge it’s almost impossible to ever see anything returning to what passed as “normal” ever again.

Should be an interesting campaign.

I despise these people in a way I hadn’t really considered.
"The Donald Trump administration has changed which holidays qualify for free entrance to national parks, removing two holidays celebrating Black people and adding the president’s birthday."
National parks change prioritizes Trump birthday over days honoring Black people
Free entrance days at national parks no longer include MLK Day and Juneteenth.

I’ve written it before, and I’ll write it again…

The most dangerous immediate threat we face as a species is AI.
One day Trump will be gone, Putin will be gone, etc..

These tech maniacs will kill us all in their quests for a perceived omnipotence. And I do not think that this is hyperbolic.
