Happy Valentine’s day to the romantic partners who protect the health of their loved ones. Will forever be grateful for this one. 🥰

My outfit is so cute today!💜 It’s still kind of cold (13°C), most people are wearing wool coats or puffer jackets, but I didn’t want to cover up my ‘fit so I just wore thermals underneath. The giant tote bag kinda ruins it but I have my AirFanta 4Lite in there. 😅

We had a couple of friends from Sweden visit us in Spain for a few days. They agreed to test, we ran air purifiers at home + open windows for ventilation, CO2 below 600ppm, outdoor dining only. They’ve since left; we remain PlusLife negative. 🙏

The attacks on USAID are so telling about the whole blinkered worldview of this admin of goons. The cost to the US is minuscle, the benefits to recepients massive, the capacity to manage crisis abroad sustained, and they're happy to destroy it because they cannot concieve of anyone else as human.

Thinking about whether I should go through the effort (and spend money) to renew my U.S. visa when I’m pretty sure I don’t wanna go there anytime soon anyway. Am I overthinking this or do I have valid reason to feel unsafe in the current climate as a non-white person and masker?

I made pancit palabok for the first time. (I think it’s called “fiesta noodles” in Jollibee outside the Philippines.) I haven’t perfected my recipe yet; had to substitute shrimp and fish sauce to accommodate my spouse’s allergies. But it was pretty good!

I rarely mourn the death of politicians but Edcel Lagman was one of the rare few I admired and supported without reservation. We crossed paths in advocacy for RH rights, teen pregnancy prevention, SOGIE equality. A true statesman, defender of human rights and democracy. RIP. 💜

I used to work for a US-based international non-profit that implemented numerous large programs funded by US government grants. Can’t even imagine the clusterfuck my life would be if I were still there. So many colleagues across different orgs are affected, programs disrupted, this is disastrous.

Zimi appreciation post! Most breathable respirator I’ve ever tried, highly protective, great seal, multiple models & sizes. Why hold out for a black Aura when Zimi is right there? 3M doesn’t care about you; @zhouliangmask.bsky.social responds to the needs and feedback of the community.

I only discovered Tanith Lee’s Tales from Flat Earth later, after I had read The Sandman in the 90s, and found that Gaiman had borrowed so heavily from her and never credited her. Her version of The Endless is more original and imaginative; a shame she was never as well-known.

“Climate barbarism is not a future threat – it’s here. Each reconstruction without addressing the core issues of environmental degradation – and the few who profit from it – merely invites the next catastrophe.”

As LA burns, the illusion that wealth can shield people from climate disasters is disintegrating
The shared devastation in Los Angeles underscores a critical truth: in the face of climate emergencies, class distinctions offer no refuge

Every major pandemic in history has led to eugenics, ugly laws, fascist governments. Even before covid disabled people have been warning us about this. Ableism is part of the political & cultural ecology of fascism. As in 1918, it accelerated fascism and brought eugenicist ideas into the mainstream.

Not providing online access to scientific events/conferences is discrimination. It excludes many disabled or chronically ill people, those with caring responsibilities, or those with fewer resources. This cannot be good for science.

I have always hated LinkedIn but even moreso now I find myself constantly screaming internally at my colleagues in international development who are completely oblivious to the devastating impact of covid on all issues of social inequality that we are (ostensibly) trying to address.

If you love the performing arts, please advocate for clean air and infection mitigations to protect performers, workers, and audiences, especially the clinically vulnerable among them. Repeat Covid infections = weakened immune system = susceptibility to other infections/illnesses = not sustainable!
A nation’s health onstage: Michael Sheen’s Nye and the Covid / long Covid crisis

A play about Nye Bevan, production changes due to illness, and the ongoing prevalence of Covid and lottery of long Covid, say much about public health.

I can no longer find the original post but a couple of weeks ago someone compiled screenshots of Bluesky apparently deleting the accounts of Palestinians in Gaza because of “spam.” Requests to the Bluesky support team to rectify were unanswered. Does anyone know what happened?

Whenever I click this link I get “page not found” is it just me or is something wrong?
I've made a Covid conscious starter pack called "Salting the Vibes" - voices on advocacy and/or science 🧬

I spent the day with a new friend from cc Spanish Twitter and it was lovely. She and her partner cooked for us and we spent the afternoon just hanging out. Cc people continue to be some of the kindest, most generous people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. 🥰

Handyman over, clean air tools deployed. Thanks to @steadirob.bsky.social for the 3D printed cradles for hanging my @nukit.bsky.social torches. Not in photo: air filters around the apartment, FFP2 on me and my spouse. Windows in all rooms open, CO2 hovering at around 500ppm.

My handyman is over to fix some things that are beyond my DIY ability, but he noticed things around the apartment that I’d done myself and said with approval, “Muy bien señora, es perfecto.” 🥺

I still don’t understand how starter packs work? I clicked one and it said page could not be found?
