Indeed but the "narrow window" is, in large part, a minor issue compared to what is now ineligble for NSF grant funding:

In #ASTRO25 session, hearing the phrase, "we need to navigate people" in a session. Finding this phrasing paternalistic. Many individuals want the tools (info & access) to navigate their own experience. Dont tell us what to do, give us our options and risk/benefit profile.
