Simply put, this is unacceptable. The entire agency is rotten to the core. There is no reforming or retraining a culture of lawlessness, there is only uprooting every part of it and then trying something different.

Call your senators and demand they abolish and prosecute ICE and the DHS
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

my vision of the US is I wake up in my neighborhood and all my neighbors are still in it, and all the kids feel safe to go to school, and I go to work and and no one’s waiting at the door to see if I’m someone coming to take them away, and I go to bed knowing the next day will be the same
@whstancil.bsky.social I would love for Mr Stancil, the Hero of Minnesota, to write a short story about a day in his vision of USA as it should be. I want to see Will’s Vision.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

If Stephen Miller is still in the White House, that means the white nationalist gameplan is still all systems GO.

What we're witnessing is just window dressing and distractions.

Tom Homan is just as bad as Bovino, but less openly Nazi.

Keep your eyes wide open.

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) is planning to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow. Ro Khanna flew in today.

We've been telling Dems to do this last week. You have to be in Minnesota. You have to be with the people. You have to stand next to Walz and Frey.

Coordinated effort, leadership, and pushback.

THIS. Strike while they're vulnerable.
The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

Go on offense. Press, pressure, blitz.

Lead.

The polls are on your side, Democrats, but they won't do it because they're not built for this. This is why we have to push them relentlessly.
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced the Democrats have to push their hand immediately. The parallels with the delays and subsequent failures after January 6th are blaring warning signs about what will happen if they don’t go after the issues with ICE and CBP at the root RIGHT NOW.

There is 0.0% chance that we will be fooled by a bs compromise in the senate on DHS funding. Package it, put a bow on it, try to sell it however you want. Not gonna work. If you aren’t sure about that, spend more time in your states with constituents.

That's exactly right. They want to be secret police but we have the power to make sure they cannot operate in secret at all.

We can record and monitor every step they take in our city.

But we also have to then tell the world what we see.
"The secret police wants to conduct its attack in secret"

the task is to make such secrecy impossible
The observers weren't the only link on the chain. We needed media, politicians, and reporters to get the message out. The people who wanted to go it alone - please recognize that we relied on these institutions.

But it started with us, with the record we made, peacefully but relentlessly.

Bovino's leaving? Great, get Noem to resign.

Noem resigns? Great, defund and dismantle ICE.

Go after Stephen Miller too. Bring charges against ICE thugs at the state and local level. Lawsuits. New state laws restricting them.

Every possible angle.
They are wounded and flailing. Press the advantage.
