I approached this book by @cmgleeson.bsky.social with trepidation because of the subject matter. It blew me away. She explores a situation that most of us would never want to countenance with profound empathy, curiosity, honesty and a touch of dark humour. Truly brilliant.

Sheer delight in book form! Highly recommend the audio version, narrated brilliantly by J. Smith-Cameron and a perfectly-paced 4 hours 23 minutes long.

I’m so grateful for this incredibly thoughtful and warm response to Show Me Where It Hurts, from the supremely talented Florence Knapp.
Florence’s own debut, The Names, is out in May, and is as beautiful as you would expect from her writing here.

Lovely to see Show Me Where it Hurts included here - and in such good company!
Plenty to look forward to among these debut novels profiled in The Irish Times today.

Would also recommend Nesting by Roisin O'Donnell, which is out next week and The Beneficiaries by Wendy Erskine, which I'm halfway through and loving.

Please take the grubbiness of this cover as evidence of the fact that I really couldn’t put it down. Can anyone beat @wednesdayerskin.bsky.social’s ability to build character, in layer upon layer of tiny details? Every one felt entirely real to me.
This will be one of *the* books of 2025.
