Great NYT piece on Elon Musk's takeover of Social Security and stealing our data. It also documents how he knowingly pushed absurd lies about 20 million people over age 120 getting benefits www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/u... Don't worry, Musk is being rewarded with billions in government contracts.

There are over 80 million phone calls to Social Security each year.

Cutting phone service will cut benefits. Social security needs more people answering the phones, not fewer
Under pressure from DOGE, Social Security may sharply cut back on phone service options for processing claims and direct-deposit changes, forcing millions to go in person to field offices or make changes online www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

In another example of DOGE’s destructive and erratic form of “governing,” the NLRB told its employees today that agency credit cards are considered frozen for at least the next 30 days.

This throws any NLRB election or trial that requires overnight travel into question.

Yesterday I testified in full House Ed & Workforce committee on "Unleashing" America's workforce and strengthening the economy. (I was clear that none of the administration's priorities have anything to do with unleashing America's workforce or strengthening the economy.)
If Trump was serious about helping working Americans, he would protect critical programs like Medicaid, Social Security, & SNAP, "not advance measures that give tax cuts to the wealthiest at the literal expense of poor children, the sick, & the elderly," says EPI President @hshierholz.bsky.social

At a time where so much speaking up and out happens within the safety of social media, it is inspiring to witness the courage it takes to stand up and speak directly to power. May we all rise to our moment with Rev. Budde bravery over the next four years.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Here's a thought - the media could stop covering everything Musk posts on X like it has some official significance. Last time I checked he was not elected to anything and has no official power. At this point why not headline the random X posts of other 53 year old men with political opinions.
