We’re expanding 7-day library service! 📚

Last year, we fought hard to restore the mayor’s cuts to 7-day service. This year, 11 new branches will have Sunday service thanks to the $2M we proposed and secured.

See you on Sundays!

Two years after the Council passed a law to expand mental health care in the city’s family shelters, 75% now have on-site social workers.

Early data shows that more families are getting care and fewer crises are occurring, a critical step toward breaking the cycle of homelessness.

Yesterday, @council.nyc.gov passed a bill requiring the Department of Correction to notify family and the public within 24 hours when someone dies in custody.

This is an important step towards ending secrecy, advancing transparency, and restoring dignity.

Today the Council passed Int. 423-2024 to require oversight and transparency when someone dies in DOC custody. 41 people have died in city jails since 2022. Amid continued violence and neglect, we are demanding accountability and action. New Yorkers deserve nothing less.
