I tend to draw those big ensemble pieces in separate layers-per character. I wouldn't really recommend doing it that way, but it does mean you get some more freedom to draw full poses for cool characters. Possibly use for some stickers or something someday.

It feels like if graphics are a hurdle in developing post launch content, like costumes, for your fighting game. That probably would have come up in a meeting or something in production, right?
Because no halloween costumes, or stages, feels like a reeeeeeeeeeal step backwards.
