Remember, the Holocaust didn’t start with gas chambers in Auschwitz.

It started with politicians dividing the people with “us vs. them”.

It started with intolerance and hate speech.

It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, and turned a blind eye.

Remember.

Small acts of bravery can be more powerful than any march or protest if we’re committed to being brave when it counts.

What will your legacy be?

The revolution will not be televised.

THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED.
I have and will continue to. But you know why I say it here ? Because @bsky.app is 30m strong and growing quickly. The collective wisdom and influence of users here is far greater than any individual democrat.

I can't say it enough. Bluesky can be the influence that can counter RW media.
No offense, Mark, but you have influence and power most of us don’t. Why don’t you speak up to those in DC you have connections with? Actions speak louder than words as you well know.

they're mad at Bishop Budde for asking for mercy, which is interesting to me. "mercy" situates Trump in a position of power. you don't ask for mercy from someone weak or impotent. they truly just hate compassion itself lol

Hey so just so you guys know, most MAGA know Trump can’t reduce food costs or gas prices. They know he’s full of it. They’re just THAT scared of democrats. And they think the left’s reaction is fake news bc all their news is fake news and they know it. It’s projection.

Fully 75% of immigrant farm workers didn’t show up to work the other day in Bakersfield, California because of fears of ICE raids. America’s agricultural communities will be the hardest hit from Trump’s harsh immigration policies. Food prices are going to skyrocket.

Some ideas about how to resist creeping authoritarianism:
- find joy in your community
- engage in mutual aid
- be sure to get enough sleep, water, and calories
- move your body in ways that please you
- support independent media and artists (and make your own!)
- use cynicism sparingly

You will be overwhelmed trying to keep up what the Trump administration is doing every minute.

I focus on my state.

Most of the horrible executive orders will run through state government. Start with them. Your sheriffs. Your county commissioners. State Rep. State Senator. Governor.

Empathy in moments where it is unexpected is a powerful weapon. But most importantly community in any form (as long as you’re physically safe) is absolutely necessary for survival. Don’t doom scroll. Recharge your empathy battery with hobbies. Joy is a form of resistance.
Listen. If your family and physical community is predominantly MAGA, resist the urge to go no contact. I get it, I did it in 2016. I learned it makes your life infinitely harder. But do not engage either. They don’t care to learn policy, they’re just looking for a reaction from you anyway.

I would caution people to stop relying on the Constitution as written to have any meaning other than what the people Trump put on the Supreme Court says it means.

"He can't do that" is not a useful response to the things he's going to do. The correct response is "Will the Court uphold that?"
Trump cannot abrogate birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment by way of executive order. That’s not how constitutional rights work.

So did most of the people I knew. Believing lies has always been alienating. But alienated people find new communities, and now the barriers to sharing outrageous stuff are so low and the ability to find new communities is on steroids.
