A refresh of my values (for anyone who cares) @bladeofthes.bsky.social got me thinking with a recent post about financial interests so a new page has been added to cover the role/stds expected in public life. As a school governor for 20 yrs and a cllr for 7 I’d like to think I meet such standards

Everything on our news agenda is being driven by a corrupted disinformation machine, run by a billionaire who sponsors Tommy Robinson and who keeps trying to foment civil war in the UK.

And incredibly our MPs & news providers stay there.

THAT is the problem. Not some bad editing choice on the BBC.

Worried now that the govt and BBC Board overreact. The report by Michael Prescott is one man’s view. The views of Danny Cohen on BBC5Live this morning were horrific in saying the BBC had an inherent liberal bias and didn’t reflect the views of a huge swathe of society. The BBC is not supposed to …

When Blair took office in 97 positive change was rapid even with the death of Diana. The NHS, education, local govt, foreign policy, transport, policing, justice all improved markedly. They had a plan. They hit the ground running and executed it. Starmer? I’ve no more clue abt his plan than he does

Them US House of Reps has only sat 87 times whilst Trump has signed 212 executive orders, 54 memoranda, and 104 proclamations since Jan 20th. America is no longer a functioning democracy.
House lawmakers have met and voted just 87 days so far in 2025

Not every seriously rich person is a greedy sod. Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister being one of the good guys. Imagine how nicer the world would be if every person of wealth did something like this - regularly.

A rather damp Remembrance Sunday in Lancashire. Here in Euxton we invoked plan B and retired to the church. I have to say, as an atheist I do struggle with the Christian wrapper that envelops Remembrance Sunday but have to recognise that without the churches its existence would be in peril.

What? The party thats looks set to break its cast iron guarantee that it won’t raise income tax is lecturing others on undeliverable promises?!

IMHO it was a stupid promise, clearly we need the money, but I’m angry because breaking promises fuels “they’re all the same” mistrust, which feeds Reform
