Really excellent analysis that’s actually based on data, not just vibes!
I have written an Expecting Goals newsletter about the 2024 election, this is a thread with a few of my findings

1) there is a clear swing state vs non-competitive state effect where Harris ran about four points stronger in states where she campaigned

Great thread on the climate risk + insurance problem. Every time I read one of Dr. Hereid’s threads I learn something new and come away with a better understanding of the issue. Very much enjoying learning about this rapidly developing space - I think there’s room for innovative policy here!
You may be surprised to find that I, a climate person in insurance, find a lot to like about this article.

Tl;Dr We haven't made hard choices in adaptation. Insurance is a symptom.

Wish I could compose threads in advance here, but instead you'll get some stream of consciousness reactions 1/🧵
“Improving insurance markets does little to address the fact that the core drivers of the ‘climate risk doom loop’ rest in the design of capital markets.”

It might be a climate resilience "framework" but lots to like!

Tl;Dr on some of my favorite points
-Unsuck data
-Translate that ish
-Cat model it up
-Wildfire land mgmt
-Critical infrastructure = risk multiplier
-Insurance but don't make it suck

Spicy 🧵 incoming 1/? bc I can't pre compose here
are we still one of the few countries worldwide without a National Climate Adaptation Plan? yes.

But we do now have a National Climate Resilience Framework

"It's a contradiction to call something sustainable if it's also prone to hazards like flood”

My skepticism of first street aside, nice article about how LEED doesn’t account for climate risk, exposing investments in sustainability to flooding & fires

The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating system is the gold standard for environmental design. But more than 800 LEED-certified buildings are at risk from climate-related disasters.
