My cats, because reasons.
The degree to which propaganda generated by the consultant-industrial complex that runs the Democratic party has driven this denial bubble, particularly among bougie Democrats, cannot be overstated.

The DC pundit/consultant class's entire agenda is in keeping their own status quo at any human cost.

I'll only allow it if its the definitive adaptation in semaphore code.

More likely a techbro was probably just the last person who talked to him before he posted that.

Much of the internal competition in Trumpworld consists of who can get the demented old man's attention long enough for him to start parroting them.

It can be both a legislative success and a political failure. The Dems might be winning technical legislative fights but they're losing public perception badly.

Someone needs to get thru their thick skulls that Trump is gonna make voting extra hard so maybe demotivating the base is deeply stupid.

Sad that after so many years this is still relevant.

It is so obvious to me that many people in supposed leadership roles have zero people in their lives they listen to who are impacted in any way by the Trump administration beyond the anguish of hearing its actions reported in soundbites on NPR.

Which is funny considering there is a private security firm called Sauron catering to the security needs of techbros and other 1%ers.

Which does not mean backing off, but pushing harder.

All these people need to go to prison, at the least. We learned from Jan 6 that we need to jail everyone right up to the top, or they just come back after being pardoned by the worst president in American history.
Border Patrol is pulling out of Minneapolis. Bovino is ending his punitive tour of blue cities. Calls for Noem's resignation are mounting, even in conservative media. Senate Democrats are dug in now on refusing to fund DHS and ICE. "Abolish ICE" is now a mainstream position.

They are losing.

Ive been warning my white centrist friends about this for well over a decade now. Got eyerolls and "are you ok" and "sure whatever bro" since ever.

Just now those same people are finally realizing it.

I'm doing my very best not to burst into an "I fucking told you so" song and dance number.

THIS.

Way too many Americans have a fantasy land understanding of what happened in Germany from 1945-49. Hell, our collective understanding of how Hitler rose to power in the first place is also largely Hollywood-driven fantasy.

Its maddening how little was really learned, and thus here we are.

We have multiple incidents observed by multiple eyewitnesses and recorded from multiple angles, and yet all of that evidence is collectively treated, at best, as materially equivalent to an unverified claim by an official.

The media's culture of obliged credulousness in action.

It's why Veep creator Armando Iannucci doesn't do contemporary political satire anymore; he outright said years ago that he just can't compete with reality.

Sadly this is what it was always going to take to pierce both the DC "conventional wisdom" bubble and the White America (TM)'s comfort blanket denial bubble.

We have far more than a political problem. We have a deep-seated psychological pathology and a broken culture problem.

Abolish ICE is not enough.

Stern words for Greg Bovino or Kristi Noem is not enough.

We need prosecutions and trials.

Anything short of this position fails to address the gravity of this moment.

One of the co-creators of Judge Dredd, Carlos Ezquerra, was originally from Franco's Spain and drew on that experience when designing and creating Judge Dredd.

The character is literally an over-the-top satire of fascism.

"Consultant-industrial complex" indeed.

A generation of Democratic leaders outsourced their political thinking such that they lack any political instincts of their own. This is why they lag so far behind the public and are incapable of real human responses to emergent circumstances.

There's a massive cross-section of America to whom the very idea of community is either purely notional or an entirely foreign concept.

Some people are so locked into atomized individuality that helping neighbors without external inducement is an idea that just does not compute.

They've been doing this for nearly 10 years now. A decade of this abject two-faced cowardice.

Enough is enough.

Name the fucking names or fuck the fuck off.
I’m completely fed up with elected Representatives saying shit like, “Republicans will tell you behind closed doors that they don’t agree with what ICE is doing”.

Playtime is over. Professional courtesy no longer exists.

Name them, record them, and make it public.

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

That was on a day not named today.

One of the big reasons why we're here is that a large proportion of the electorate is cognitively incapable of processing anything remotely resembling object permanence.
