The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) is a cosmic masterpiece in the night sky! Its swirling arms are a perfect example of the universe’s artistry. I love when this galaxy is in our night sky and am able to image it! @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #astronomy
M101, also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy, is about 21 million light years away in Ursa Major. Its spiral arms stretch gracefully through space, making it one of the most beautiful galaxies you can capture. #astrophotography #astronomy #universe @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Vega is the bright blue white star high in the night sky. It’s only 25 light years away and shines about 40 times brighter than our Sun. It was the first star ever photographed and still steals the show in the constellation Lyra. #astronomy #astrophotography #star @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

These young, hot blue stars formed only about 100 million years ago. They are called The Pleiades! They are visible with the naked eye and are located around 440 light years away! #astronomy #universe #Astrophotography #star @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Orion and Running Man Nebula. I love this target. It is so beautiful. I’m hoping to capture the Orion Nebula and Horsehead together tonight! #astrophotography #astronomy #space #universe @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

This is the Heart Nebula. It is 7,500 light years from earth! I always enjoy capturing it. It always impresses me! #astronomy #astrophotography #universe #space @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Moon is shining bright tonight. Step outside and take a look. Even with the naked eye it is beautiful and with binoculars you can see craters and details come to life. Nights like this are a reminder of why I love looking at the sky. #astronomy #moon #astrophotography

This is the Triangulum Galaxy, M33. It is located about 2.7 million light years away. This stunning spiral galaxy is one of our Milky Way’s closest neighbors. Every point of light in this image represents billions of stars and countless worlds. @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #astrophotography #stars

Here’s my second poem, “Astronomers Explain Why There Are No Green Stars,” that dropped yesterday in @eunoiareview.bsky.social. Thank you to @clayennisastro.bsky.social for the beautiful image of the Lagoon Nebula. eunoiareview.wordpress.com/2025/09/16/a...

This is the Lagoon Nebula, a massive cloud of gas and dust where new stars are born. This shot reveals the dark dust lanes and glowing regions of hydrogen and oxygen that give it such a dramatic look. It is 4,000 light years away! #astronomy #astrophotography #space @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Crescent Nebula, 5,000 light years away in Cygnus, was formed by powerful winds from a dying massive star. Its glowing filaments show the beauty and chaos of a star nearing the end of its life. @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #astronomy #astrophotography #space #universe

The Bubble Nebula, located about 7,100 light years away in the constellation Cassiopeia, is a cosmic masterpiece shaped by the powerful stellar winds of a massive star at its center. #astrophotography #astronomy #universe @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

People ask why we can’t see the Apollo flags on the Moon with a telescope. Even the biggest scopes on Earth can’t spot something that small from 239,000 miles away. A 4 ft flag would be like trying to see a postage stamp from Texas to Florida. Space isn’t hiding secrets, it’s just huge. #astronomy

Just when you thought the 80s were gone Pac Man is still out here chomping away only now it is in space. This shot is of the Pac Man Nebula a deep space cloud of gas and stars 9200 light years away that just happens to look like the arcade legend. @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #astronomy #science

Here is my first attempt at a false Hubble palette of the Rosette Nebula. In this style the colors are symbolic rather than natural, with oxygen shown in blue, hydrogen in green, and sulfur in red. When combined, hydrogen and sulfur form the golden tones #astronomy @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Andromeda Galaxy, our closest spiral neighbor, shines from 2.5 million light years away. Home to about a trillion stars, it offers a glimpse of what lies just beyond the Milky Way. 7 hrs of data. Siril, Graxpert and LR. @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #astronomy #astrophotography #space

The Witches Broom Nebula is a beautiful remnant of a massive star that exploded thousands of years ago. It lies in the constellation Cygnus about 2,400 light years away. The delicate threads of glowing gas stretch across space like strands of a cosmic broom. #astronomy @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Wizard Nebula, where stars cast their own spells in the dark. Located about 2,600 light years away in the constellation Cassiopeia, it's a stellar nursery where new stars are born in clouds of gas and dust. Edited in Siril, Graxpert and LR @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social #astronomy #space #universe

Our closest spiral galaxy neighbor, sitting about 2.5 million light years away. Captured with my Seestar S30 telescope and processed in Siril, Graxpert and Lightroom. This is 3.5 hrs of data and I will continue to add to it. #astronomy #space #universe #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Dumbbell Nebula is about 1200 light years away in the constellation Vulpecula. It was created when a dying star shed its outer layers leaving behind glowing gas. This is a glimpse of what will happen to our own sun one day. #astronomy #astrophotography #space @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

This is Triangulum Galaxy, M33. It is 3 million light years from us. Every one of those tiny dots is a star with billions of them making up this one galaxy. Mind-blowing. #astrophotography #astronomy #space #universe @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social
