We are saddened to learn of the death of Eric Huntley. An inspirational force in partnership with his wife Jessica, they were at the heart of black radical publishing and bookselling in the 70s/80s. We remember their activism with the International Book Fair and the Bookshop Joint Action Committee

We are very saddened to share the death of our long-standing Trustee and co-founder of the GPI, Dr Aggrey Burke. The first black consultant psychiatrist in the NHS, Aggrey became a pioneer in addressing the discrimination of diverse communities in the medical field. We are grateful for his service.

Today, 13 October, marks 12 years since the passing of this remarkable humanitarian and fighter for justice for oppressed peoples, Elder Jessica Huntley. She is much missed in today’s political landscape. Her records are held at the London Archives - Huntley Collection.

If that isn’t a Dorothy Koomson summer of love, what is? 🤣😍
