Over one month of work, but I finally was able to combine rigid body dynamics with bones. So I can add dangling objects to my rigs. It's janky but it works!

I was able to combine rigid body dynamics with bones in a way that allows me to easily change between bone animation (with and without jiggle) and full rigid body animation. Now I only need to make a script to do the setup

I got sidetracked into simulating a fishing line being cast on water and then being pulled. It's not as good as I would like but this project started to look more like a custom physics engine.
