This shit is expensive, and you left me with nothing but memories to lose."

Shoulder To Shoulder
Ambition leaking from a broken bottle. I threw that away. Disease spilled our dreams upon the floor. Jazz muted in the back of my mind. I can no longer hear your advice, but I can still take it. ...

I believe in a minimal online footprint, clean, owned, and protected, yet open enough to share the work that deserves a place in the world.

Took about a day and a half to not feel like crap after getting this years Flu / Covid vaccines in the same arm on the same day, but worth it for the peace of mind to do the right thing to try and stay healthy.

Sometimes I think about writing something uplifting and light, but everything hurts.

Life is always testing us.

The tests aren’t meant to break us, but to reveal who we are becoming in the process. Every challenge is both a question and an answer:

Will you give up, or will you grow?

8 unread books, 5 days off. 📚

I probably won’t get through them all, but that’s okay; the goal for this long weekend isn’t productivity.

It’s rest.

It’s quiet.

It’s giving myself space to just be. 🏖

And maybe, piece by piece, letting a little more color back into my life. 🌈

I told you that I spoke at your funeral and I said, “I’m not sure if you heard me” and then I thought, well, I guess you heard me as good as you can hear me now if that’s even possible. And I wondered again exactly where you are...

If a story could outlive you, would you want it to? That’s what I’m trying to build here.

I grew up with a father who wrote stories until Alzheimer’s took his words away. This is why I write mine.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

On Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom and recommit ourselves to the work that remains undone. We remember that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope for tomorrow’s light.
