Psychological safety is NOT about lack of disagreement.

Psychological safety REQUIRES:

* disagreement and debate
* setting standards for behavior and performance, and enforcing them
* telling people things they don't want to hear
* courage, from the bottom up
* humility, from the top down

A key lesson I’ve learned as a manager is situational leadership. Managing everyone the same doesn’t work.

People vary in skill and motivation for tasks. High skill, high will workers need empowerment, while low skill, low will workers need clear direction and guidance.

Adapt your approach.

The vast majority of your problems can be solved with boring, common technologies.

Techies get carried away with shiny new tech. The next greatest thing comes along, and the suggestions are to use it for the new project or platform.
