Couple of County Court possession claim/appeal judgments. One on whether a s.21 had to be served individually on joint tenants (no, but s.21 still invalid as an unlicensed HMO), and one on whether an appeal was filed in time to preserve introductory tenancy status.

If you do not know you are doing wrong, can you sue for not being prevented from doing it? – the Supreme Court pronounces
The Supreme Court has allowed the appeal of three of the relevant public bodies in the Lewis-Ranwell case, concerning the effect in civil law of a determination for criminal law purposes that a person is not guilty by reason of insanity.  The judgment can be found here, and the press summary here.  Having been involved in the case at the Supreme Court level, I will hold fire on comments about the Supreme Court's judgment, but my views at the Court of Appeal stage (before I was instructed), can be found here.

Always treat waiters well.
By this time, Labour’s 1997 election victory had rendered him an ex-MP. The week before polling day, apparently, he failed to tip a waitress in a pub, and 14 waiters who had apparently planned to vote Conservative switched to the Lib-Dems.

The thing I like particularly about the fact that Isaac Newton invented the catflap is it gives the image of him trying to lay the foundations of classical mechanics but getting distracted by having to let a cat out then in again 40 seconds later and thinking, “Shit, I really need to sort this.”

Well worth a read.
Obituary of Sir James Munby by Sir Nicholas Mostyn, wonderful as much for the non-legal asides as for the cases - "he always described himself as a passionate ferro-equestrian" - and for this:

"a kind, witty, and deeply compassionate human being"
