What would repealing the Affordable Care Act without more than a concept of a plan look like?

Before the ACA became law in 2010, insurance was expensive and often hard to obtain. Most policies didn’t cover pre-existing conditions.

Exactly! It's literally the only message that wins across the board right now. Even if we were able to retake both chambers in November, we can not "Abolish ICE." We won't have veto-proof majorities. It's a stupid slogan that will lose elections.

This was structural solidarity. Not just marching or statements. Jewish organizations and lawyers worked alongside Black leaders, offering support where they could. They believed equality under the Constitution had to be real, enforceable, and meaningful for every child in America.

For many in the Jewish community, this support was grounded in shared understanding of discrimination. Organizations like the AJC had commissioned research on how segregation harmed children, and that work was cited in the Court’s decision, showing how collaboration strengthened the case.

I have been thinking about how change actually happens and how stories connect. After the Bronx Slave Market thread, I wanted to explore how legal systems and alliances shaped civil rights. That led me to Brown v. Board of Education and how communities worked together for justice.

Yup, that's why I posted the gift link. All the "Abolish ICE" bone heads don't understand that train has left the station. Did you see where DHS' Office of Civil Rights will be shut down? You know, the ones responsible for investigating civil rights violations committed by ICE? 😬

Thank you for posting that article.

Now I know that ICE is drowning in cash, so its campaign of murderous terror across America will continue unabated. However, TSA will be working without pay, so our flights are gonna be all screwed up. The Coast Guard is unfunded, too.

I'm just so frustrated with people so cavalierly demanding thousands of people work without pay indefinitely. Especially in this case where ICE & CBP are so well funded through last year's reconciliation, they would get paid regardless of how long a shutdown lasted.

For everyone rooting for a shutdown, understand there is a $75B ICE and $65B CBP mandatory, multiyear funding package in place from last year's reconciliation bill. That means they both have enough $$$ to keep operating WITH pay throughout a shutdown. The more you know:
